Abbeyfield
Abbeyfield has been a charitable housing organization for almost 60 years. They offer a range of accommodation for people over 55 years of age that includes independent living, supported housing and dementia care homes, with over 500 properties across the country.
With 8 properties on the Island in various locations, they provide affordable accommodation that is seen as supporting ‘Independent Living’ for the Elderly. The proposed Home at Yarmouth accommodates 17 x 1 Bed Flats, each with their own lounge and kitchenette for independent dining, but also provides communal dining areas, lounge, and laundry for residents who wish for a more communal life style. There are also sleep over facilities for visitors.
This new low energy building proposal will offer an independent lifestyle to its elderly residents whilst providing a reassuring network of support in the background. All one bedroom flats have ensuite facilities with bath or shower.
The facility is estimated to cost around £2.5m. Full planning permission was achieved in April 2019
